Amazon’s best-sounding smart speaker — in a different league from the rest of the Echo range. Five drivers, Dolby Atmos support and automatic room adaptation. If you take music seriously and want Alexa alongside it, this is the one. The 3.5mm output also lets it feed into an existing hi-fi system.

Echo Pop

Amazon’s smallest and cheapest Echo. Full Alexa functionality in a half-sphere design that fits anywhere. Sound quality is the most limited in the range but it handles background music in a small room fine. Best for bedrooms, kids’ rooms or secondary spaces where you want Alexa without spending much.

The Echo Show 8 earns its price most for homes with Ring or Nest cameras. Saying “Alexa, show me the front door” and getting a live view on screen in seconds is genuinely convenient. Video calls are good quality with the 13MP camera. The built-in Zigbee hub and adaptive display round out a strong package for kitchens and hallways.
