Tapo D130 Chime Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It

🔄 Try this first — Turn the power off at the breaker for 30 seconds, then back on so the doorbell restarts. Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds.

Your Tapo doorbell rings through its included chime unit (or a mechanical chime when wired). If you hear nothing on a press, the cause is usually the chime setup, volume or pairing.

What This Problem Means

If your Tapo D130 is showing this fault, working through the checks below in order resolves it in the large majority of cases. Each step is safe to try yourself and follows TP-Link’s official Tapo guidance.

Common Symptoms

  • No sound when the button is pressed
  • Chime unit silent
  • No alert on your phone
  • Chime lost its connection

Safe Checks You Can Try

1. Check the chime is powered and paired

Make sure the chime unit is plugged in and still linked to the doorbell in the Tapo app.

2. Check the volume and ringtone

Adjust the chime volume and selected ringtone in Device Settings — it may be set to silent.

3. Enable doorbell press notifications

In the app, confirm Doorbell Press notifications are switched on for your phone.

4. Move the chime closer

If the chime keeps dropping out, move it nearer the doorbell or router to strengthen the link.

5. Re-pair the chime

Remove and re-add the chime in the Tapo app if it has lost its connection.

6. Restart the doorbell

Turn the power off at the breaker for 30 seconds, then back on so the doorbell restarts. Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds.
