If your Arlo Pro 6 is showing this problem, working through the checks below in order will resolve it in the large majority of cases. Each step is safe to carry out yourself and is verified against Arlo’s official support guidance.
What This Problem Means
When the Arlo Pro 6 goes offline it loses its connection and stops sending alerts, recording motion or streaming live video. This is almost always a power or Wi-Fi issue rather than a hardware fault.
Common Symptoms
- Red or offline indicator shown in the Arlo Secure app
- No motion alerts or notifications being received
- Live View fails to connect
- Last event shown in the app was some time ago
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Check the battery level
Open the Arlo Secure app and check the battery level for the Arlo Pro 6. If the battery is low, remove and recharge the battery via USB-C until full, then reinsert.
2. Restart the camera and router
Remove the battery from the camera, wait 10 seconds, then reinsert it. The camera will restart automatically. Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds at the same time. Many offline issues resolve with a clean restart of both the camera and router.
3. Check Wi-Fi signal strength
Open the Arlo Secure app, go to Device Settings and check the Wi-Fi signal strength. A weak signal is the most common cause of cameras going offline. Move the camera closer to your router temporarily to test, or add a Wi-Fi extender.
4. Check for network changes
If you have recently changed your Wi-Fi password, upgraded your router or switched broadband provider, the camera will have lost its saved credentials. Open the Arlo Secure app, go to Device Settings and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
5. Check the Arlo Secure subscription
Without an active Arlo Secure subscription, recordings are not saved, but the camera should still show as online. If the camera is completely offline, the issue is connectivity rather than subscription status.
