Blink Video Doorbell Chime Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It
Your doorbell can ring an in-home mechanical chime (when wired to chime wiring) or use a Blink Mini, Blink Chime or compatible Alexa device as a chime. If you hear nothing, check how your chime is set up.
What This Problem Means
If your Blink Video Doorbell is showing this fault, working through the checks below in order will resolve it in the large majority of cases. Each step is safe to try yourself and is based on Blink’s official guidance.
Common Symptoms
- No sound when the button is pressed
- In-home chime stays silent
- No alert on your phone
- Mini or Echo not chiming
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Check your chime type
If your doorbell is wired to your existing chime wiring, your in-home mechanical chime will sound on a button press. If it is not wired in, set up a Blink Mini, Blink Chime or Alexa device as a chime instead.
2. Enable Doorbell Press Notifications
In the Blink app, make sure Doorbell Press Notifications are turned on.
3. Set up a chime device
Assign a Blink Mini, Mini 2, Mini 2K+, Blink Chime or a compatible Alexa device as your chime in the app.
4. Check the chime volume
Adjust the chime volume in the app and on any in-home or Alexa chime.
5. Restart the doorbell
Remove the batteries for 5 seconds (or power-cycle at the breaker on wired models) and try again.
