Overview

The eufy SoloCam S340 is a wire-free solar outdoor camera with two lenses — a 3K wide-angle and a 2K telephoto — giving 8x hybrid zoom, plus 360-degree pan and tilt to cover everything with no blind spots. It runs on solar with a built-in battery and stores locally, no subscription needed.

Key Features

Dual lens: 3K wide-angle + 2K telephoto, 8x hybrid zoom
360° pan and tilt for full coverage
Solar powered with a non-removable rechargeable battery
Colour night vision and AI human detection
Built-in 8GB storage; HomeBase 3 optional for BionicMind AI

Setup & Compatibility

Set up in the eufy Security app on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. The solar panel mounts on the camera or nearby via cable. It works standalone with built-in storage, or pair a HomeBase 3 to add BionicMind face recognition and more storage. Detection range is about 6–8m by day.

What’s New

The dual-lens 8x zoom plus 360-degree pan/tilt is the draw — one solar camera that sweeps the whole area and zooms in on detail, with no hub required.

Is Eufy Safe? The Privacy History Explained

Eufy markets its cameras on privacy and local, subscription-free storage, but it’s worth knowing the background. In November 2022 a security researcher found that some eufy cameras uploaded thumbnail images to the cloud even when cloud features were switched off, and that camera streams could in some cases be viewed without authentication by anyone with the right link. In January 2023, eufy’s parent company Anker acknowledged to The Verge that its cameras were not natively end-to-end encrypted at that time.

In January 2025 the New York Attorney General secured a $450,000 settlement with the companies distributing eufy products over these security findings, requiring them to strengthen their security programme and encrypt video in storage and transit.

Since then eufy has moved its cameras to encrypted-by-default streaming, applied AES-128 and RSA-1024 encryption on HomeBase 3, run third-party security audits and launched a bug-bounty programme. If subscription-free local storage and strong privacy are the reason you’re looking at eufy, it’s sensible to keep firmware up to date and review your cloud and notification settings. We think the current products are a reasonable choice, but we’d rather you knew the full history and decided for yourself.

Common Problems & Fixes

Running into issues? Our eufy SoloCam S340 troubleshooting guide has step-by-step fixes for offline errors, Wi-Fi, storage, motion, night vision and more — all verified against eufy’s official support.

Real World Performance

The S340 is a popular all-rounder — the pan/tilt and zoom genuinely remove blind spots, and solar means you rarely think about charging. The built-in battery can’t be swapped, and like all eufy battery cameras it’s motion-triggered rather than continuous.

Who Should Buy It

A great choice if you want wide solar-powered coverage with zoom and pan/tilt from a single wire-free camera, hub optional.

Verdict

The eufy SoloCam S340 is a standout solar camera — dual-lens zoom and 360° coverage with no subscription and no hub needed.
