Ring Indoor Camera Plus Keeps Disconnecting
Does your Ring Indoor Camera Plus keep dropping offline and reconnecting? Here are the checks you can safely carry out before contacting support.
What This Problem Means
A camera that repeatedly disconnects almost always has a marginal wifi signal or an unstable network rather than a hardware fault. The fix is usually to strengthen the connection at the camera’s location.
Common Symptoms
- The camera goes offline and online repeatedly
- Device Health shows a fluctuating or low signal
- Live View works intermittently
- You get repeated offline and online notifications
- The status light flashes blue and red (wifi lost)
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Check Signal Strength
In Device Health, check the wifi signal (RSSI) where the camera sits. A weak or borderline signal is the usual cause of repeated disconnects.
2. Move the Router or Add a Chime Pro
Position your router higher and more centrally, or add a Ring Chime Pro between the router and camera to extend the signal.
3. Restart Your Network
Unplug your modem and router for 30 seconds, plug them back in, and allow them to fully restart. Then check whether the camera holds its connection.
4. Reduce Network Congestion
Too many devices on one band can cause drops. Where possible move other devices to the 5GHz band so the 2.4GHz band is less crowded for the camera.
5. Check the Cable and Socket
Make sure the USB-C power cable is firmly seated and the socket is reliable, as intermittent power can look like a wifi drop.
