Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera Live View Not Working
Is Live View failing to load or freezing on your Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera? Here are the checks you can safely carry out before contacting support.
What This Problem Means
Live View streams real-time video over your wifi connection. When it fails, the cause is almost always bandwidth or signal related rather than a fault with the camera itself.
Common Symptoms
- Live View shows a spinning loader and times out
- The video freezes or is very slow to load
- Live View works on wifi but not mobile data, or vice versa
- The picture loads but with heavy buffering
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Test Your Connection
Open Live View on the same wifi as the camera, then again on mobile data. If it works on one but not the other, the problem is that connection rather than the camera.
2. Check Signal Strength
In Settings then Device Health, check the wifi signal (RSSI). A weak signal where the camera sits is a common cause of Live View problems.
3. Check Your Upload Speed
Run a speed test on your home network. Live View needs adequate upload bandwidth; if several devices are streaming at once, free some up and try again.
4. Restart the Camera and Router
Unplug the camera for 30 seconds and the router for 30 seconds, then restore power and retry Live View once both have reconnected.
5. Update the Ring App
Make sure the Ring app is updated to the latest version, as out-of-date apps can cause Live View to fail.
