If night vision is not working on your Reolink Argus 4 Pro, working through the checks below will resolve the issue in most cases.
What This Problem Means
The Reolink Argus 4 Pro uses ColorX technology for full-colour night vision without IR LEDs. When night vision is not working, the image appears dark or washed out. This is almost always a settings or lighting issue.
Common Symptoms
- Image appears completely dark at night
- Night vision image is washed out or overexposed
- Colours appear faded or incorrect in low light
- Night vision not activating automatically
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Check night vision settings
Open the Reolink app, go to Device Settings and confirm Night Vision is set to Auto or Color. The Reolink Argus 4 Pro uses ColorX which relies on the F/1.0 aperture and sensor to produce colour in low light — no spotlight is required.
2. Check the ambient light level
ColorX performs best in conditions with some ambient light — street lighting, porch lights or dawn/dusk. In complete darkness, image quality will be reduced. Consider adding a supplementary light source if the area is completely unlit.
3. Clean the lens
Dust, condensation, cobwebs or fingerprints on the lens will cause dark or blurry night vision. Clean the lens gently with a soft, dry cloth.
4. Restart the device
Press and hold the setup/reset button on the camera for about 5 seconds until you hear a prompt tone, then release. Wait 60 seconds for it to restart fully. Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds too. A firmware glitch can occasionally prevent night vision from activating correctly.
