Is your Echo (4th Gen) failing to connect via Bluetooth?
What This Problem Means
Bluetooth cannot pair or maintain a connection.
Common Symptoms
- The device does not appear in your phone’s Bluetooth list
- Pairing succeeds but no audio plays
- Bluetooth connection drops while streaming
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Put the Echo (4th Gen) in Pairing Mode
Say “Alexa, pair Bluetooth”. On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings and look for Echo (4th Gen) in the list of available devices.
2. Clear Paired Devices and Reconnect
In the Alexa app go to Devices → Echo (4th Gen) → Bluetooth Devices and remove all paired devices. Forget the Echo (4th Gen) on your phone and pair again.
3. Check Distance and Interference
Keep your phone within 10 metres of the Echo (4th Gen) and reduce other active Bluetooth devices nearby.
4. Restart Both Devices
Unplug the Echo (4th Gen) for 10 seconds and restart your phone. Attempt pairing again after both have restarted.
5. Check for Existing Connection
The Echo (4th Gen) can only maintain one Bluetooth connection at a time. Say “Alexa, disconnect Bluetooth” before pairing your device.
