Overview

The eufyCam S3 Pro is eufy’s flagship wireless outdoor camera, pairing 4K resolution with MaxColor Vision for full-colour night footage and a radar-plus-PIR detection system that eufy says cuts false alerts by 99%. It records locally to HomeBase 3 with no subscription, and its SolarPlus 2.0 panel keeps it charged year-round.

Key Features

4K UHD video with MaxColor Vision colour night vision
Dual radar + PIR motion detection for fewer false alerts
SolarPlus 2.0 solar charging plus removable battery
IP67 weatherproof for outdoor mounting
Stores locally on HomeBase 3 — 16GB built in, expandable to 16TB

Setup & Compatibility

Set up in the eufy Security app on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. The camera pairs to a HomeBase 3, which holds the storage and runs eufy’s on-device BionicMind face recognition. Press the SYNC button to pair, and set the power source to solar in the app for year-round charging.

What’s New

MaxColor Vision and the radar+PIR dual detection are the headline upgrades — genuine colour at night without a spotlight, and far fewer nuisance alerts than PIR-only cameras.

Is Eufy Safe? The Privacy History Explained

Eufy markets its cameras on privacy and local, subscription-free storage, but it’s worth knowing the background. In November 2022 a security researcher found that some eufy cameras uploaded thumbnail images to the cloud even when cloud features were switched off, and that camera streams could in some cases be viewed without authentication by anyone with the right link. In January 2023, eufy’s parent company Anker acknowledged to The Verge that its cameras were not natively end-to-end encrypted at that time.

In January 2025 the New York Attorney General secured a $450,000 settlement with the companies distributing eufy products over these security findings, requiring them to strengthen their security programme and encrypt video in storage and transit.

Since then eufy has moved its cameras to encrypted-by-default streaming, applied AES-128 and RSA-1024 encryption on HomeBase 3, run third-party security audits and launched a bug-bounty programme. If subscription-free local storage and strong privacy are the reason you’re looking at eufy, it’s sensible to keep firmware up to date and review your cloud and notification settings. We think the current products are a reasonable choice, but we’d rather you knew the full history and decided for yourself.

Common Problems & Fixes

Running into issues? Our eufyCam S3 Pro troubleshooting guide has step-by-step fixes for offline errors, Wi-Fi, storage, motion, night vision and more — all verified against eufy’s official support.

Real World Performance

The S3 Pro is among the best wireless outdoor cameras you can buy without a subscription. The 4K image is sharp, MaxColor night footage is a real step beyond infrared, and the radar detection genuinely reduces pointless alerts. The trade-off is cost and the HomeBase requirement.

Who Should Buy It

The right pick if you want eufy’s best 4K outdoor footage, colour night vision and the fewest false alerts, and don’t mind paying for it.

Verdict

The eufyCam S3 Pro is eufy’s flagship for good reason — 4K colour night vision, smart radar detection and subscription-free storage, at a premium price.
