Ring Outdoor Camera Plus Not Charging
Is the Quick Release Battery Pack on your Ring Outdoor Camera Plus not charging? Here are the checks you can safely carry out before contacting support.
What This Problem Means
The Ring Outdoor Camera Plus is powered by a removable Quick Release Battery Pack that you charge with the supplied cable. Charging problems are usually down to the cable, power source or charging port rather than the camera itself.
Common Symptoms
- The battery shows no charge after being plugged in
- No charging lights appear on the battery
- The battery charges very slowly or not fully
- The camera reports a low battery even after charging
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Remove and Inspect the Battery
Press the release tab and slide the Quick Release Battery Pack out of the camera. Check the charging port and contacts for dust, debris or damage.
2. Use a Proper Power Source
Connect the charging cable to the battery’s charging port and plug it into a mains USB adapter. Ring advises a power source that provides at least 1 amp; charging from a low-power laptop or hub port may not work properly. A full charge can take several hours.
3. Watch the Charging Lights
While charging, the battery shows a solid green and an amber light. It is fully charged when only the green light remains lit. No lights at all usually points to a faulty cable or power source.
4. Try a Different Cable and Socket
Swap to another charging cable and a different wall socket to rule out a damaged cable or dead outlet.
5. Reinsert and Test
Slide the fully charged battery back into the camera until it clicks, then check the battery level in Device Health.
