Nest Cam Indoor (Wired, 3rd Gen) Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi

🔄 Try this first — Unplug the power adapter from the wall, wait 10 seconds, then plug back in. Also restart your router by unplugging for 30 seconds.

Is your Nest Cam Indoor (Wired, 3rd Gen) failing to connect to Wi-Fi during setup or after a network change? Here are the checks you can carry out before contacting support.

What This Problem Means

The camera cannot establish or maintain a connection to your Wi-Fi network, preventing it from going online or staying reliably connected.

Common Symptoms

  • Setup fails at the Wi-Fi connection stage in the Google Home app
  • Camera connects briefly then drops offline repeatedly
  • Google Home app shows a weak or failed connection warning
  • Camera cannot be found during initial setup

Safe Checks You Can Try

1. Check Internet Bandwidth and Speed

Your camera requires sufficient internet speed to send video and stay connected. According to Google’s guidance, run a speed test near the camera’s location. If the signal is weak, the camera may be too far from your router.

2. Move the Camera Closer to the Router

During initial setup, place the camera within 3 metres of your router. Once connected, move it to its final position. Setting up at distance is a common cause of Wi-Fi connection failure.

3. Restart Router and Camera

Unplug your router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Once fully reconnected, unplug the camera’s power adapter for 10 seconds and plug it back in. Then attempt setup again.

4. Check Your Router Settings

The Nest Cam Indoor supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. Confirm your router is broadcasting and that the password is correct. An incorrect password is one of the most common causes of failed connections.

5. Update the Google Home App

Ensure the Google Home app is updated to the latest version on your phone. An outdated app version can cause connection issues during setup and ongoing use.
