Is the night vision on your Ring Indoor Cam failing to activate?
What This Problem Means
The infrared night vision is not engaging — most commonly caused by an external light source or an incorrect night vision setting.
Common Symptoms
- Footage is very dark at night
- Camera does not switch to night mode at dusk
- Video has a pink or purple tint
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Check for External Light Sources
Nearby street lights or security lights shining into the Ring Indoor Cam lens prevent the camera from detecting darkness. Adjust the camera angle to reduce direct light on the lens.
2. Check Night Vision Setting
In Device Settings → Video Settings → Night Vision, confirm it is set to Auto. Always On causes a tint in daylight.
3. Clean the Lens
Outdoor grime on the lens can affect the camera’s light sensor. Use a dry lint-free cloth to clean the lens.
4. Restart the Camera
Unplug the camera from the wall, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. A restart resets the camera’s night vision switching logic.
5. Check Power
Low battery can affect night vision performance. Check Device Health for power status.
