Is your Echo Studio not responding to Alexa voice commands?
What This Problem Means
The device is not reacting to the wake word — most commonly caused by the microphone being muted or a Wi-Fi issue.
Common Symptoms
- Saying “Alexa” produces no response
- Light ring does not activate
- Red light ring visible (microphone muted)
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Check the Microphone Is Not Muted
Look at the light ring on your Echo Studio. A solid red ring means the microphone is muted. Press the microphone button on the device to unmute it.
2. Restart the Device
Unplug the Echo Studio from the wall, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Allow one minute to fully restart and reconnect.
3. Check Your Wi-Fi Connection
Open the Alexa app, go to Devices and check your Echo Studio shows as online. Restart your router if it shows offline.
4. Reduce Background Noise
If music or audio is playing at high volume, the Echo Studio microphone may struggle to detect the wake word. Lower the volume before giving commands.
5. Check for an Alexa Outage
Widespread unresponsiveness affecting multiple devices is usually an Amazon service issue. Check downdetector.co.uk for any reported Alexa outages.
