Ring Outdoor Camera Pro Night Vision Not Working
Is the night-time picture from your Ring Outdoor Camera Pro black, washed out or unclear? Here are the checks you can safely carry out before contacting support.
What This Problem Means
The Ring Outdoor Camera Pro uses Low-Light Sight and Adaptive Night Vision for a clear picture after dark. Most night vision problems are caused by reflections, obstructions or nearby light sources rather than a hardware fault.
Common Symptoms
- The night-time image is completely black
- The picture is washed out or overexposed at night
- Glare or a bright halo appears in the dark image
- Night vision worked before but has degraded
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Clean the Lens
Gently wipe the lens with a soft, dry cloth. Dust, cobwebs, rain spots or fingerprints are the most common cause of poor night images.
2. Check for Reflective Surfaces
Make sure the camera is not facing a nearby wall, window or other reflective surface, which can bounce light back and wash out the picture.
3. Remove Nearby Light Sources
Bright lights pointing toward the lens interfere with night vision. Reposition the camera or the light so it is not shining into the lens.
4. Check the Camera Angle
Confirm nothing has shifted to partially block the lens, such as a plant, cable or bracket casting a shadow.
5. Restart the Camera
Unplug the camera for 30 seconds and plug it back in, then check the night picture once it has reconnected.
