Is the battery on your Ring Spotlight Cam (2nd Gen) not charging when connected? Here are the checks you can safely carry out before contacting support.

What This Problem Means

The Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack is not receiving charge, which may be caused by a faulty cable, a blocked charging port or a fault with the battery itself.

Common Symptoms

  • Battery percentage not increasing after a full charging cycle
  • No charging indicator appearing in the Ring app
  • Battery shows 0% or very low charge after overnight charging
  • USB-C charging cable not seating correctly in the charging port

Safe Checks You Can Try

1. Try a Different USB-C Cable

Use a different USB-C cable to charge the Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack. A faulty or low-quality cable is a common cause of charging failures — use a cable you know works with other devices.

2. Use a Different Power Outlet

Plug the charging cable into a different wall socket. A faulty outlet or a socket controlled by a switch can prevent charging even when the cable appears connected.

3. Check the Charging Port for Debris

Inspect the USB-C port on the battery pack for dust, dirt or moisture. Use a dry soft brush or can of compressed air to clear any obstruction before attempting to charge again.

4. Charge the Battery Pack Separately

Remove the Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack from the camera completely and charge it separately. This confirms whether the issue is with the battery itself or the camera housing.

5. Check the Battery Status in the Ring App

After charging for at least an hour, check the battery level in Device Health in the Ring app. If the percentage has not moved at all, the battery pack may need replacing.
