Is your Ring Spotlight Cam battery running out faster than expected?
What This Problem Means
Battery drain is usually caused by high motion activity, a weak Wi-Fi signal or cold weather.
Common Symptoms
- Battery runs flat within days
- Battery draining much faster than when new
- Device Health shows rapid battery decline
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Reduce Motion Sensitivity
Reduce the motion sensitivity or narrow the motion zones for your Ring Spotlight Cam in the Ring app. Each recorded event uses battery.
2. Check Wi-Fi Signal
A poor signal forces the camera to use more power. Check Device Health for signal strength and add a Ring Chime Pro if needed.
3. Enable Motion Scheduling
Set a schedule in the Ring app to disable motion detection during quiet periods to reduce unnecessary recordings.
4. Check for Cold Weather
Lithium batteries perform poorly in cold temperatures. Higher drain in winter is normal.
5. Check Battery Age
If the camera is more than two years old, the battery may have lost capacity. A replacement battery will restore performance.
