Is your Ring Spotlight Cam failing to detect motion or send alerts?

What This Problem Means

The camera is online but not triggering recordings or notifications.

Common Symptoms

  • Movement occurs with no alert triggered
  • Event history shows few or no recent events
  • Motion alerts stopped after an app update

Safe Checks You Can Try

1. Check Motion Zones and Sensitivity

Open the Ring app, go to your Ring Spotlight Cam settings and review Motion Settings. Confirm zones cover the monitored area and sensitivity is not too low.

2. Check Motion Alerts Are On

Confirm the Motion Alerts toggle is enabled for your Ring Spotlight Cam in the Ring app.

3. Check Phone Notification Settings

Confirm Ring app notifications are enabled in your phone’s system settings. Do Not Disturb can suppress alerts.

4. Check Motion Frequency

If Motion Frequency is set to Light, a cool-down period applies between events. Set to Frequent to reduce missed detections.

5. Check Ring Protect Plan

Without a Ring Protect plan, event recording may be limited. Check your subscription in the Ring app under Account.
