Is your Nest Cam Outdoor failing to connect to Wi-Fi?

What This Problem Means

The device cannot establish a stable Wi-Fi connection.

Common Symptoms

  • Setup fails at the Wi-Fi stage in the Google Home app
  • Camera drops offline repeatedly after connecting
  • Google Home app shows a connection warning

Safe Checks You Can Try

1. Check the Wi-Fi Password

Re-enter your Wi-Fi password carefully during setup. An incorrect password is the most common cause of failure.

2. Move Closer During Setup

Place the Nest Cam Outdoor within 3 metres of your router during initial setup, then move it to its final position.

3. Restart Router and Device

Unplug your router for 30 seconds, then plug back in. Restart the device and attempt setup again.

4. Check Router Band

The device supports dual-band Wi-Fi. Confirm your router is broadcasting correctly and try connecting on each band if setup fails on one.

5. Update the Google Home App

Ensure the Google Home app is updated to the latest version before attempting setup.
