If your Ring Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) is showing this problem, working through the checks below in order will resolve it in the large majority of cases.
What This Problem Means
When the Ring Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) goes offline it loses its connection and stops sending alerts or streaming video. This is almost always a power or Wi-Fi issue rather than a hardware fault.
Common Symptoms
- Red or no indicator light on the camera
- No motion alerts being received
- Live View fails to connect in the Ring app
- Device shown as offline in the Ring app
- Last event shown was some time ago
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Check the power supply
Switch off the circuit breaker or fuse supplying the floodlight camera for 10 seconds, then switch it back on. Wait 60 seconds for the camera to restart fully. Also restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds. Confirm the camera’s indicator LED shows normal behaviour after power is restored.
2. Check Wi-Fi signal strength
In the Ring app check the Wi-Fi signal strength. A weak signal can cause the camera to drop offline even when mains powered. A Wi-Fi extender near the camera will help.
3. Check for network changes
If your Wi-Fi password or router has changed recently, reconnect the camera in the Ring app under Device Settings.
4. Check the circuit breaker
For the Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen), confirm the circuit breaker supplying the camera has not tripped. Check your consumer unit and reset if needed.
