Ring Wired Video Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Live View Not Working

What This Problem Means
The doorbell is online but cannot stream live video to the Ring app. Ring recommends a minimum upload speed of 10Mbps for Live View on the Wired Video Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) — insufficient bandwidth on either side will cause Live View to fail.
Common Symptoms
- Live View loading spinner appears but the stream never starts
- “Can’t connect to your Ring device” error message
- Live View connects briefly then drops with a frozen or black screen
- Live View works on some networks or devices but not others
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Force-Close and Reopen the Ring App
Fully close the Ring app on your phone and reopen it. A stale app session is a frequent cause of Live View failures and a fresh start resolves this in most cases.
2. Check Bandwidth on Both Sides
Ring recommends at least 10Mbps upload speed from the doorbell and sufficient download speed on your viewing device. Run a broadband speed test on your home network. Also test Live View on both Wi-Fi and mobile data — if it works on one but not the other, the issue is with that specific network’s bandwidth.
3. Check Power Supply
Open Device Health and check the Power Health reading. A doorbell receiving insufficient voltage may struggle to maintain a stable Live View stream. Confirm your transformer is supplying the recommended 30–40VA.
4. Restart the Doorbell
Switch the circuit breaker supplying the doorbell off for 10 seconds, then back on. Allow two minutes for the doorbell to fully restart and reconnect. Then attempt Live View again.
5. Restart Your Router
Unplug your router for 30 seconds, plug it back in and wait for it to fully reconnect before testing Live View again.
