Tapo C120 Offline? Here’s How to Fix It
When your camera shows as offline it has lost its connection to the network, so you can no longer see Live View, get alerts or record new clips in the Tapo app.
What This Problem Means
If your Tapo C120 is showing this fault, working through the checks below in order resolves it in the large majority of cases. Each step is safe to try yourself and follows TP-Link’s official Tapo guidance.
Common Symptoms
- Camera shows offline in the Tapo app
- Live View will not load
- No motion notifications
- Greyed-out camera thumbnail
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Restart the camera and router
Unplug the camera’s power adapter for 10 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to fully restart. Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds too. This clears most temporary glitches.
2. Check your internet
Confirm other devices can reach the internet. If not, restart your router and wait a few minutes.
3. Check the Wi-Fi signal
A weak signal where the camera is mounted is the most common cause. Move it closer to the router or add an extender.
4. Confirm the network hasn’t changed
Tapo cameras stay on the network they were set up with. If you changed your Wi-Fi name or password, you will need to reset the camera and run setup again.
5. Check the status LED
Refer to the LED guide in the Tapo app for your model — the colour tells you whether it is connecting, has no internet, or needs setup.
