Ring Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi

What This Problem Means
The hardwired camera cannot establish or maintain a stable Wi-Fi connection, which may be due to router settings, signal strength at the mounting point or an incorrect password.

- Setup stalls or fails at the Wi-Fi connection stage in the Ring app
- Device Health shows a poor or failed connection
- Camera connects briefly then drops offline repeatedly
- Ring app cannot find the camera after a router change
Safe Checks You Can Try
1. Confirm the Router Is Broadcasting 2.4GHz
The Ring Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Log into your router settings and confirm your 2.4GHz network is active and broadcasting. If your router uses a single combined SSID, try temporarily separating 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
2. Power Cycle the Camera
Switch off the circuit supplying the camera at the fuse box for 10 seconds, then switch it back on. Allow the camera to fully restart before attempting to connect again.
3. Verify Your Wi-Fi Password
Re-enter your Wi-Fi password in the Ring app during setup. Incorrect passwords are one of the most common causes of failed connections β pay close attention to upper and lower case characters and special characters.
4. Check Signal Strength at the Mounting Location
Use Device Health in the Ring app to check the signal strength at the camera’s installed position. Floodlight cameras are typically mounted at height and at distance from the router, making signal strength a frequent issue. A Wi-Fi extender can resolve this.
5. Restart the Router
Unplug your router for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Once fully reconnected, attempt the camera setup process again from the Ring app.
