🔄 Try this first — Switch off the power to the camera at the fuse box for 10 seconds, then switch it back on. Also restart your router by unplugging for 30 seconds.

Is the Live View on your Ring Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) failing to connect, spinning indefinitely or returning a connection error? Here are the checks you can safely carry out before contacting support.

What This Problem Means

The camera is online but cannot stream live video to the Ring app — usually caused by insufficient bandwidth on the camera’s network connection or on your viewing device.

Common Symptoms

  • Live View loading screen appears but the stream never starts
  • “Can’t connect to your Ring device” error message when opening Live View
  • Live View connects briefly then drops with a frozen or black screen
  • Live View works on some networks but not others

Safe Checks You Can Try

1. Force-Close and Reopen the Ring App

Close the Ring app fully on your device and reopen it. App session issues frequently prevent Live View from loading and a fresh start resolves this in most cases.

2. Switch Between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data

Test Live View on your phone using Wi-Fi, then switch to mobile data and test again. If one works and the other does not, the issue is with that specific network’s bandwidth rather than the camera.

3. Power Cycle the Camera

Switch the circuit breaker supplying the Floodlight Cam off for 10 seconds, then switch it back on. Allow the camera two minutes to fully restart and reconnect before attempting Live View again.

4. Check Bandwidth on Both Sides

Ring requires at least 2Mbps upload speed from the camera and 2Mbps download speed on your viewing device. Run a broadband speed test on the camera’s network and on your phone’s network to confirm both meet this minimum.

5. Check Device Health for Signal Issues

In the Ring app, open Device Health for the Floodlight Cam and check the reported signal strength. A reading worse than -65dBm at the mounting location will cause Live View to time out, even if the camera appears online in the app.
