🔄 Try this first — Switch off the power to the camera at the fuse box for 10 seconds, then switch it back on. Also restart your router by unplugging for 30 seconds.

Is the siren on your Ring Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) not activating when you trigger it in the Ring app? Here are the checks you can safely carry out before contacting support.

What This Problem Means

The built-in 110dB security siren is not responding to activation — this is commonly a firmware or app issue and in most cases resolves after a camera reboot.

Common Symptoms

  • Tapping the Siren button in the Ring app produces no sound from the camera
  • Siren was working previously but has stopped after a firmware or app update
  • Siren activates in the Ring app (button shows as on) but no sound is audible from the camera
  • Siren works intermittently

Safe Checks You Can Try

1. Reboot the Camera via the Ring App

Open the Ring app, go to Device Health for your Floodlight Cam and tap Reboot This Device. Siren failures after firmware updates are almost always resolved by a device reboot. Allow the camera two minutes to fully restart before testing.

2. Update the Ring App

Check the App Store or Google Play for any pending Ring app updates and install them. An outdated app version can cause control features including the siren to become unresponsive.

3. Power Cycle at the Fuse Box

Switch the circuit supplying the Floodlight Cam off for 10 seconds at the fuse box and switch it back on. A full power cycle is a more thorough reset than a software reboot and can clear firmware faults that a software reboot does not.

4. Test from a Different Device

Try activating the siren from a different phone or tablet using the Ring app. If it works on one device but not another, the issue is with the app installation on your primary device rather than the camera itself.

5. Check for Physical Obstruction

Inspect the speaker grille on the Floodlight Cam for blockages such as mud, debris or insect nests. A blocked speaker will significantly reduce or eliminate audible output even when the siren is triggered successfully.
